Washing and care Silk Mohair

🧶 CARE INSTRUCTIONS FOR LilleMiriam Silk Mohair

Silk Mohair is an exclusive and delicate natural material made from superkid mohair and silk. The yarn is feather-light, airy, and sensitive to both heat and friction, and therefore benefits from especially gentle care. Often, less care is best 🌿

🌬️ Airing always the first choice

Air the garment regularly in fresh air, preferably outdoors in slightly humid conditions. This is often sufficient to freshen the garment and helps extend its lifespan.

🤲 Hand wash (the only recommended washing method)

Silk Mohair is often knitted together with other yarn qualities; however, hand washing is always recommended.

Gently wash the garment in lukewarm water, max 30 °C, using a detergent for wool or silk. Do not rub, wring, or stretch the garment while wet allow the water to flow gently through the fibres.

! Garments with multiple colours: Do not leave the garment soaking in the first wash water, as excess dye from darker colours may transfer to lighter areas.

Gently squeeze out the water after washing and spin at a maximum of 800 rpm.

🧴 Detergent

Always use a specialist detergent for wool or silk, free from enzymes and bleaching agents. Avoid fabric softener this can damage the fibres and cause the garment to lose shape and structure.

🧼 Stains

If stains occur, try to treat the stain locally using suitable detergents for wool or silk. This often allows you to avoid washing the entire garment unnecessarily.

🌡️ Temperature important!

Avoid large temperature differences between washing and rinsing. Sudden temperature changes may cause a type of felting that results in a duller, denser, and stiffer surface.

🌿 Drying

Lay the garment flat on a towel and gently reshape it to its original form. Never tumble dry, dry in direct sunlight, or place on or over heat sources.

🧼 Ironing and steam

Avoid ironing if possible.

If necessary: Use low heat and preferably steam, with a damp cloth between the iron and the garment. Do not press too hard.

📦 Storage

Store the garment folded, not hanging. Protect against moths using, for example, cedarwood or lavender.

Silk Mohair is an exclusive natural material that reacts to heat, friction, and temperature changes. Even when following proper care instructions, unforeseen incidents may occur. We therefore cannot accept responsibility for felting or other changes resulting from incorrect washing, the use of incorrect wash programs, or unforeseen washing conditions.
